I'm glad for all the other recommendations though. But when I do, Aimp is basically what I use. I almost never play music on my computer anymore. Anyway, it's so much easier to play music on my phone, either on the phone itself, or a Bluetooth speaker, or my car's audio, or my Bluetooth headphones, than it is on the computer. I use Spotify, and on Android I would use Poweramp, and on iOS I just use the built-in iTunes (but I use the Cesium frontend as it's dark and has queueing features). The idea is that I have this pocketable thing the size of a cassette tape with an HD screen on it that can store thousands of songs. Files can be burned onto CDs or played within the player. It features a left-hand navigation and file management system for audio and video files as well as podcasts and external devices such as MP3 players. Fire up Winamp, throw on some Nirvana and cutoffs and remember the 90s. Winamp is a media player application that is free to download and use. Though iTunes' performance leaves a lot to be desired, so maybe it should be on the faster machine. I know iTunes is not the best, but I have an iPhone and I need iTunes installed somewhere to manage my iPhone, which is why it's not on the desktop. On the PC, I use Aimp on the desktop and iTunes on the laptop. I didn't use Winamp's media library when it got added, and resented players that used them for the longest time.
I admit, I haven't found a full replacement for Winamp on the computer. I don't feel like there is any better alternative currently, even AIMP comes close.
